About Us

Ken has a long history of focusing his efforts on promoting earth awareness, curiosity, & positive change in our local communities and beyond.

Even in HIgh School, his electives were driven by environmental concerns, and he petitioned his Los Angeles parents of modest means to send him to an environmental science program at the Yosemite Institute for every single one of his 4 years. Thanks Folks! This exposure began his awareness of biological & social diversity that endures.

In college, Ken studied Microbiology and Political Science  at UCLA. He later broadened his focus to the international arena, attending Cornell’s International Peace Studies Graduate Program to study Political Science with an emphasis on the democratization process in the 3rd world. Ken’s research conclusions were not popular at the time since  they indicated that democracy means different things to different cultures, and that there is not one “golden” road to follow....

After college, he worked for a public sector consulting firm, and was responsible for data collection, analysis, and report recommendations for such public programs as the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA), where he helped promote better public housing management practices, the DARE program (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), and the Jr. College Vocational Program, assessing community college opportunities in California at the Jr. College level. Ken later went on to join Big Brothers, mentoring two little brothers in the LA area through significant developmental stages in their lives.

Ken’s next pursuits were technology driven. He developed early computer programs in a joint program at UCLA to access video in large video libraries (10 years before YouTube). He was instrumental in providing this technology to one of the first early versions of the Steven Spielberg’s SHOAH foundation, which was showcased in 'Schindler's List'. He continues to develop & program these technologies for UCLA’s SLOAN Foundation. For the last ten years, Ken has been a computational biologist, using computers to discover cancer drugs.

Throughout all of these pursuits, Ken has always maintained his love for capturing the world though the lens.  Ken shoots weddings, family portraits, and food art the way he does everything else: with passion, or  “duende”; the combination of emotion & creation intertwined.

Ken’s deepest goal is to combine his love for meaningful, powerful images with social consciousness & change at the community level.  His mission is to bring other photographers together to communicate our vision of the world that we all want.

That's what images for a better world is all about.

Peace,

Ken
